Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you are all having a great one spending time with family and/or friends and remembering all the reasons to be thankful this year and everyday. For us, we’re spending this day at home as my husband is still sick from a couple days ago. Usually we go to my aunty’s house for Thanksgiving lunch with everyone. They always make a lot of great food along with everything else that everyone brings for the day! I especially look forward to not just the turkey and all the great fixings, but the juk and shrimp in particular when it comes to food. My uncle makes some really good breaded shrimp and the juk is always so nice to eat when it’s cool that I sometimes over stuff myself on it! And of course, all the desserts! Most importantly though is spending time with family that we don’t usually see during the year. It’s always nice catching up with them. So what are we doing today then? My husband is resting, our son was enjoying some Teen Titans GO! and now Disney Infinity game play, and me? Taking care of everyone and making it laundry day, for our son’s clothes at least. I’m not going to go too crazy! But I do want to reflect at bit on the things that I’m thankful for.

Thanksgiving of Thanks to family & friends

Of course my family and friends that have been supportive and there for us during the year! Especially for me with getting sick so much with the major one earlier this year, leading to the surgery I had last month. I do a good amount of house stuff, work from home, and caring for Kai when he’s not at schoo0l. So when I’m out because I’m sick a lot of it will fall on my husband to do and my mom tries to help out when she can. I do try to do stuff but then get scolded by my husband, hehe. But that’s because as a mom you really do feel it is your responsibility to do everything that you can, plus whatever crazy things you add on just because. Mom’s duty I guess. Also though I have to be really thankful to my clients for being so patience with me during those times too in understanding that I needed time to recover. It really helps. I’m still on the road of healing for my ear and will have continuing posts soon. You can start here if you’re curious as to what happened.

To local businesses and companies too!

Another thing I have to be thankful for is a lot of luck to probably balance all the bad stuff. This year I’ve been fortunate enough to win a good amount of giveaways and contest, a recent one that will help out a lot! I don’t really consider myself lucky, but using Instagram besides for learning purposes does seem to help. My husband just things I’m lucky with that kind of thing. Nah! Every one that I’ve won has been a great opportunity for us to try something new whether it was food, an event, or even a concert! We wouldn’t have been able to do so much without all the great local businesses and companies that are generous enough to do these kinds of things for their customers. A big thank you to all of them!

Black Friday Weekend

After all the thankfulness it’s time to give back even more with Black Friday weekend! Have you figured out where you’re going? We’re doing a bit less since the husband is sick, but I have a couple places in mind. For sure Costco! Seems a bit odd maybe but if you have to buy in bulk to give out gifts like we usually do for our son’s class and family and such, it helps. Plus they have some good food deals this time too. Probably more than last year. Which is bad for the wallet as I don’t have that much to spend in one place! Hawaii has a local ad for the weekend so it has more specific local items for sale. That’s why I like getting stuff from there on Black Friday. I am scaling back a bit to try to spread it out more as another place I like to go to for gifts is a local craft fair near us that’s always after Thanksgiving on the weekend. Another good bulk of my gift shopping is done there too as there is a great amount of local food and craft vendors to support. You can grab lunch while you’re at it as I like to get the Spam Musubi and Andagis; it’s kind of a tradition. And I see some friends while I’m there too! Where do you plan to go?

Update part!

It’s been a few weeks since I posted last as it was filled with our son coming home from school early either because of his behavior or he’s not well. Also his birthday was recently and we were out doing stuff to celebrate! It was also filled with me feeling sick and now my husband’s turn. All while trying to do house and web work. It’s never easy…and it won’t be with the holidays in full swing now. The crunch time! Posts will return this coming week as I’m hoping things will calm down a bit. That’s it for me as the clothes just finished drying! Have a safe and great Thanksgiving weekend!
