Sanrio x Sugarfina Collaboration Collection

Sanrio x Sugarfina Collaboration & Review

As a kid in the 90’s one of my favorite stores was Sanrio. Pochacco and Kero Kero Keroppi were my favorite as I had all kinds of stationary and bags with them. I still have them today! But I’m sure most people were sad to see the stores closing one after another here on Oahu. First the Ala Moana Shopping Center location, then the Pearlridge Shopping Center location last year. So when I saw that there would be a Sanrio and Sugarfina collaboration from the Ala Moana location window décor, my inner child was happy!

A Sanrio ❤ Sugarfina collaboration for kids and adults alike!

I wasn’t planning on going on opening day, let alone stand in line before opening, but I saw in an article that the first 25 people would receive a free cube of their choice from the collection. Sold! My husband dropped me off before he went to work and we got some morning fuel before I stood in line as the 7th person there. I didn’t get any shots inside once they opened as everyone crowded around the Sanrio collab section and I tried to juggle their 3-cube box, a stack of the candy cubes, my ticket to get a free cube, and my Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf drink in two hands. I didn’t go all out, but I tried to get one of most of the characters as I had gotten an email from Sugarfina ahead of time so I knew which ones I wanted. They have interesting flavors like the Gudetama’s Lazy Gummy Eggs with and Orange flavor and Kerroppi’s Donut Pound Jelly Beans with a key lime taste.

Packaging & Mini-Taste Review

Packaging wise these are so well made and really cute with a modern, grown-up feel to it. Yet you want to play using the pop-up display inside! Best of all, you can reuse the box to put other things inside! The candy cubes themselves are cute but simple with the character faces on one side and butts on the other.

They had no samples of the candies at the store (but they did have some at the Neiman Marcus store event on Saturday, September 23rd at the Ala Moana Shopping Center) I tried them at home. The four that we had were all different and interesting with just the right amount of each flavor without it being overpowering. Out of the four my favorite was Badtz-Maru’s Mischievous Pops because of the use of the popping candy with the chocolate and my husband liked the same too. Either way you can’t go wrong unless you don’t care for a particular flavor. I’m overall very happy with this limited edition collaboration between Sanrio and Sugarfina! Definitely brought back some good ‘old kid memories. Will I go back for the other characters? Maybe. If I want to collect them all. The only problem is, where to put them all?

You can grab some for yourself or someone you know who loves Sanrio, candy, or both at Sugrafina’s website before they’re gone! Did you go on opening day? What characters did you grab and which did you like? Let me know below!

  1. There was a sanrio store in the Atlanta GA mall when I was a kid that I’d get to visit about once a year. I remember feeling like the luckiest kid in the world when I was able to get some stickers or some candy. Ah childhood memories! Looks like a crazy but fun day for sure. The candies and their containers are adorable!

    1. They had a lot more different stuff at the one here before they closed but I wasn’t able to go as often. They even had a café too but I never had the chance to get anything. Idk why they closed though. I’ll have to look that up later. Did you have a favorite character? I know! I’m going to have to find what I can put in them to justify keeping the cubes. lol
